The Syzygy strain is a historically significant and genetically stable variety of Psilocybe cubensis, most famously associated with the legendary ethnobotanist Terence McKenna and his brother Dennis. Named after the McKennas’ publishing company, Syzygy is believed to have originated from spores collected in the Amazon and was one of the foundational strains they helped popularize during the early wave of mushroom exploration in the West.

Syzygy is known for its fast colonization, vigorous mycelial growth, and abundant spore production, making it a favorite among microscopy enthusiasts and taxonomy researchers. Under magnification, its spores are well-formed and darkly pigmented, offering excellent clarity and contrast for structural analysis. With its rich history and reliable performance, Syzygy remains a staple in many spore libraries and is a perfect choice for both new and experienced researchers.
