Strain Details:
Origin: Malabar Coast, India
Habitat: Bovine, equine dung, and enriched soils
Climate: Subtropical
Cap: 50+ mm in diameter, broadly convex to plane, yellowish brown with a darker center. The cap surface is dry with small remnants of the universal veil visible as spots.
Stem: 150 mm in length, yellowish, bruising bluish green when damaged. The persistent membranous annulus (ring) stays attached between the cap and stem until full maturity.
Gills: Adnate to adnexed, grayish when young, darkening at maturity.
Spores: Dark purplish brown, subellipsoid, measuring on 4-spored basidia.
Additional Information:
Low Spore Production: This strain is a very poor spore depositor, making it available primarily for microscopy in spore syringe form.
Origins: The strain was made available to us by our good friend and ex-Canadian spore provider 3m, who originally secured specimens from the Malabar Coast.
