Strain Details:

  • Origin: Oaxaca, Mexico (near Huautla de Jimenez)
  • Habitat: Bovine, equine dung, and enriched soils
  • Climate: Subtropical
  • Cap: 50mm in diameter, obtusely conic to hemispheric. Yellowish brown, maturing to light yellow. The surface is dry, with few remnants of the universal veil, giving the cap a speckled appearance. Flesh is white, soon bruising bluish green.
  • Stem: 150-275mm in length, yellowish. Flesh bruises bluish green when injured. Persistent membranous annulus (ring) that becomes dusted with purple-brown spores at maturity.
  • Gills: Adnate to adnexed, initially grayish, becoming nearly black as spores mature.
  • Spores: Dark purplish brown, subellipsoid on 4-spored basidia.
